I've always been fascinated by John Ashbery. Ever since reading Self-Portrait in a Convex Mirror I've been a fan. I don't always understand his poetry, but I find myself lost in the texture and music of his language, and going along for a wonderful ride. To me, his language is magical, like being lost in a dream. You're sometimes not sure what is happening, but everything is in context, everything feels right.

I just bought a collection of his later poems, Notes from the Air. It is an excellent collection, and a great place to become acquainted with Ashbery.
