Google, When Will I Find True Love?

(based on the results for “When will I find true love?” 2/10/11)

So, deep down, we all know that no matter how many
(or few) boyfriends we burn through, we're all
looking for Mr. Right. Unless of course you're a lesbian,
Aug 22, 2010 ... True love is nothing but illusion ...
What you need to look out for is the inner peace...
When you are with that special some1 you will find
It is the will of God for you to find and experience True Love!
Hold fast to your confession of faith
and True Love will find you, God bless
To find true love, you must first find your true self.
When you truly know yourself then and only then
will you be able to know when true love has entered
Still haven't found your true love yet? Maybe
everything will be different in the Year 2008. Take
this new love quiz and find out what awaits you
Which statement is more true? I know I will have
a wonderful relationship with a great person. I don't
always believe I will find the love I want
When Will You Find Your True Love?
Okay, we know the drill. We're all supposed to grow up,
get married and live happily ever after right?
Do you put yourself out there when you're looking
for love? How easy is it for your soulmate to find you?
Maybe the saying “you don't look for true love – true love
will find you”. I fell in love with someone who I thought was a snob/jerk.
Tip: These results do not include the word "when"

Death Refers to an Album Shopped Around the World

or Want To See if Someone Is Dead?
(Based on the first page Google results for “death” as of February 5th, 2011)

Now, because I could not
delve into the riddle,
the possible life span and date
of vital functions that sustain
this living death guide, life death calculator,
the termination of the particular processes
of the death clock, death test, death-o-meter or death meter,
the one thing we can be certain of in life is,
the People You're Looking For became
a rock band called Death.

Eventually they recorded
over a billion records
at the legendary Near-Death
Experiences Recording Studio
along with supporting scientific,
metaphysical, and religious material
including the heartbeat, "one of the great
characters of literature", brain
activity (including the brain stem
Thomas H. Johnson), and breathing,
personified as a gentleman caller or suitor.

If United Sounds calls to search the records,
profile exactly the Kind Cessation,
we will give our design,
find Death defined
as the most profound empty word
ever documented.

Stipula Passaporto

I got this pen in the mail yesterday, purchased from the venerable and always excellent Fountain Pen Hospital in NYC.

Every mention of this pen you will read online says that it's the most efficient fountain pen ever, and it's hard to argue with that.

You can fill the entire bottom half with ink with the included eyedropper (it holds a lot more than you'd think) or use a standard cartridge. It might be a bit small for some hands, but with the cap posted it's just under five inches, which gives it the feel of a standard-sized pen.

It's fairly inexpensive, but definitely does not feel cheap. This little guy is hand-turned Italian resin with a steel nib that comes in fine, medium or medium italic. It's a sweet little pen that just feels and looks great.

[This is an experiment. The idea was to take a page (or two) of Google search terms, copy whatever comes up in the search and then cut and paste all of this into something resembling a poem.

One thing that made this experiment much easier was a little program called Clippy. I don't know how I ever wrote on a computer without it. So, I want to thank Faw_zz for creating this wonderful program. If you're interested in it, check it out at here or on the Mac App Store. You won't be disappointed.]

Via Gizmodo, spray-on skin. This must be what it's like to live in the future.

At Least

Not for those
who quit, but who
walked through winter
to more winter,
splintered lines,
ruined scripts,
canvas,
feet and eyes
and started
again again again

The last of stale coffee
down the throat
do I need to say
“again”?
But
sometimes
I can feel
the wings
burn through
my shoulders.

Always running down
this hill, wild dogs
bite when
I walk, bay
when I sleep. There
is no way to put
this down peacefully,
beautifully.
It needs to rip
off your arm.
At least.

Cornelius Gemma, lib. 2 de nat. mirac. cap 4, related of a young maid, called Katherine Gualter, a cooper’s daughter, anno 1571, that had such strange passions and convulsions, three men could not sometimes hold her; she purged a live eel, which he saw, a foot and a half long, and touched himself; but the eel afterwards vanished; she vomited some twenty-four pounds of fulsome stuff of all colours, twice a day for fourteen days; and after that she voided great balls of hair, pieces of wood, pigeon’s dung, parchment, goose dung, coals; and after them two pounds of pure blood, and then again coals and stones, of which some had inscriptions, bigger than a walnut, some of them pieces of glass, brass, etc., besides paroxysms of laughing, weeping and ecstasies, etc. Et hoc (inquit) cum horrore vidi, “this I saw with horror.” They could do no good on her by physic, but left her to the clergy.

From Richard Burton's The Anatomy of Melancholy, Part 1, Section 2, Member 1, Subsection 2.

Now, it's not all demon possession and vomiting, I don't want to mislead. And it's not an easy book to get into, but once you're in, it's quite fascinating. It's a bit insane, too, but fascinating.

For Marnie Stern

With both eyes wide
and fingers bloody
scraping, clawing, gnawing
after beauty.

I know it's very small, but hopefully it captures a bit of her intensity, a bit of her power and rhythm.
